On September 15, 2011 53 year old Walter Urban broke the current Guinness Book of World Records record for the most amount of weight lifted squatting in one hour – drug free on Live with Regis and Kelly. The past record was 125,065 lbs and set in 2009 by 32 year old Six Pack Lapadat of. Walter's record weight was 127,245 lbs which was accomplished by completing 904 squats in one hour or 15 squats per minute at an average weight of 140 lbs for 60 minutes.

The effort to breark the current world record was to bring attention to the fact the adults can continue to remain healthy and get stronger longer than even before well into their 50's and 60's. Additionally, to bring attention to the fact that "steroids" are not necessary to reach new heights in atheltic performance – with the hope of raising awareness of "drug free" performance among young amateur athletes around the US.

Walter was independently drug tested for performance enhancing drugs Friday September 9th, 2011 by Evans OCC Health Clinic in Toronto Canada in conjunction with Live with Regis & Kelly and Health Street NYC. He tested negative for any performance enhancing drugs.

Guinness Event

New York, NY Friday September 17 2011: 53-year-old Walter Urban set a new Guinness World Record for the most amount of weight squat lifted in one hour – drug free - on LIVE! with Regis and Kelly. The former record was 125,065 lbs, set in 2009 by a 32-year-old man. Walter's goal was to lift 126,000 lbs which was to be accomplished by completing 700 to 1000 squats in one hour or 11 to 17 squats per minute for 60 minutes. When asked by Regis what motivated Walter to do this, Urban's reply was "to show that you can be healthy, fit and strong at any age…even into your 90's. You can be strong without the use of performance enhancing drugs, and finally…he likes a challenge!"
